About Us
During my childhood, my father worked for various trucking companies in one capacity or another. After graduating from high school in 1977, my father allowed me to travel with him over the road as a helper on a moving truck. I fell in love with the freedom of the job and worked my way from helper to driver to warehouse manager to dispatcher to operations manager over the next sixteen years. I learned the business from the bottom up.
The Ideal Move was established on March 1, 1993. We started with three men and two trucks. We currently have twelve trucks and twenty-five employees. We are one of the only moving companies in the country to offer a pure profit sharing plan where the employee gets an additional five percent of their earnings in a pure profit sharing plan and a 401K plan where we match 100% of the first three percent and fifty percent of the next two percent of whatever they save. This has enabled us to retain employees which is an important part of our success.
Our biggest accomplishment to date is our own move into our new facility. We are now located at 35 Railroad Avenue in Albany, a 16,500 square foot climate controlled state of the art facility. We now offer household goods storage, self-storage to Pharmaceutical reps, Military and Government storage and High Tech and High Value Storage.
Our mission statement of Value, Service & Reliability has allowed us to grow to be the "Capital Region's Premier Mover."
